It’s not unusual for people struggling with mental illness or in the midst of a behavioral health crisis, to require emergency care at some point.
But the emergency department typically isn’t the best place to treat them so behavioral health patients who visit the ED can’t get the care they need, and they end up waiting for a more appropriate venue.
